Many Christian families observe Sunday as a day of rest but honestly I am usually frantically cleaning or getting things ready and organized for the upcoming coming week, but today I am going to be faithful. After a wonderful church service which touched again on the “Fruits of the Spirit” (see my earlier blog) we wanted to enjoy the remaining day as a family with water fun being on the top of the kids request.
Water parks can be beyond the financial reach of a large family for a spur of a moment outing! And the logistics of multiple attractions is contrary to “family” anyway because everyone wants to go separate directions. Back in the spring we planned ahead and purchased a Texas State Park Pass which gives us free access to many parks, some of which include water attractions. We chose a local park with a swim lake. Of course we realize that these water attractions are not equivalent to an actual water park, however, kids enjoy jumping into a lake more than waiting in a long line for a 30 second slide (no matter what they say*wink). The savings of entrance cost with our park pass allowed us to afford a paddle boat rental. Seeing my kids smile as they paddled on the lake was the cherry on top of our family outing.
Stay Distracted,
